A Letter to Heidi Montag

After reading this, I felt the urge to share some thoughts with the self-promoting celebrity...

Dear Heidi,

We all know who you are, and we find ourselves dismayingly amused at your and your husband's reality TV based antics. Your lust for the spotlight is unequivocal, and the fact that you have launched yourself from "LC's friend" on The Hills to "Speidi" is, I'll admit, slightly impressive. You have even written a book on how to become famous, where you and your just-as-hungry-for-the-spotlight hubby share the secrets to earning a celebrity status with us "little people." And I think I speak for the majority of this country when I say, "Eh."

This latest news on you really disturbs me for a couple of reasons:
  • You were a beautiful girl naturally, yet you have felt the need to become "the best you" as you stated in the article referenced above. That is just depressing, and says a lot about the expectations of young Hollywood.
  • As much as it pains me (and surely many others), you have become something of a role model for young girls. When they see that you felt so bad about yourself that you had to alter your already-beautiful features, what will these girls think about themselves? Will they look in the mirror and wish for nose jobs, breast implants, brow lifts, and liposuction? I can't help but think that this article will send the self-confidence levels of many young girls through the floor.
I will not sit here and say that I am against plastic surgery, because I am not. Heck, if it wouldn't hurt so friggin' bad during recovery, I might would consider having some one day! And I know that plastic surgery is not only used for self-improvements, but also for re-constructing after accidents. But, when you have procedure after procedure because of selfish reasons chasing after ridiculous expectations that have been set in place by our society, then I believe you have more serious image issues that go much deeper than your skin.

Next time you want a major transformation to become "the best you", may I suggest you try a psychiatrist. I'm just sayin'.

All the best,
A

  1. Somehow, as I myself read People.com I knew that Heidi Montag was going to make it in your post. HA! I truly can't wait for what I hope is to become, your daily randomness.
